This notice explains how your feedback and ratings submitted through the SeggWat widget are collected and processed.

Who We Are

SeggWat is a feedback collection platform operated by Hauke Jung ("we," "us," or "our") from Hauptstr. 41, 79199 Kirchzarten, Germany.

When you submit feedback or ratings through a SeggWat widget embedded on a website, we process your data on behalf of the website owner (the "Customer"). This means:

The Customer (the website you're visiting) is the data controller — they decide what data to collect and how to use it.
SeggWat (us) is the data processor — we process your data according to the Customer's instructions and provide the technical infrastructure.

What Data We Collect

When you interact with a SeggWat feedback widget or rating widget, we may collect:

Automatically Collected Data

Page URL — The web page where you submitted feedback
Timestamp — When you submitted feedback or a rating
IP Address — Used to determine your approximate location (country/region) and for security purposes
Browser and Device Information — Browser type, operating system, screen resolution
Version — Application version string (if provided by the Customer)

Data You Provide

Feedback Message — Any text you enter in the feedback form
Rating Value — Whether you found a page helpful (thumbs up/down)
User ID — If the Customer has configured the widget to include your user identifier

Optional Data

Email or Name — Only if the Customer has customized the widget to collect this information

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under one of the following legal bases:

Contractual Necessity (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) — Processing is necessary to fulfill our contract with the Customer to provide feedback collection services.
Legitimate Interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — We have a legitimate interest in providing reliable feedback infrastructure, preventing fraud, and ensuring service security. Your interests and rights do not override these legitimate interests.
Customer's Lawful Instructions — The Customer (website owner) is responsible for having a lawful basis to collect your feedback, such as your consent or their legitimate interest in improving their service.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

Store and display feedback to the Customer in their SeggWat dashboard
Provide analytics to the Customer (e.g., feedback trends, helpfulness ratings)
Maintain service security and prevent abuse or fraud
Improve our platform and troubleshoot technical issues
Comply with legal obligations under EU and German law

We do not:

Sell your data to third parties
Use your feedback for advertising or marketing purposes
Share your data with anyone other than the Customer and our sub-processors

Who Has Access to Your Data

The Customer (Website Owner)

The Customer can view all feedback and ratings you submit through their widgets. They control:

Who on their team can access your feedback
How long they retain your feedback
Whether they respond to or act on your feedback

SeggWat Sub-Processors

We share your data with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform:

All sub-processors are contractually required to protect your data and process it only according to our instructions, in compliance with GDPR.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

Encryption in transit — All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+)
Encryption at rest — Database storage is encrypted
Access controls — Only authorized personnel can access infrastructure
Regular security updates — We maintain up-to-date software and security patches
Data minimization — We collect only the data necessary to provide the service

However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your feedback and ratings as long as:

The Customer maintains their account — Customers control retention of their feedback data
Legal obligations require it — We may retain data longer if required by law
Backup retention periods — Data may remain in backups for up to 30 days after deletion

Deletion

By the Customer: The Customer can delete individual feedback items or their entire account at any time. Deleted data is removed from our production systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.
By You: To request deletion of your feedback, contact the website owner (Customer) directly. They can delete your feedback from their SeggWat dashboard.

International Data Transfers

Your data is stored and processed within the European Union, primarily in Germany.

We do not transfer your data outside the EU. If a sub-processor requires data transfer outside the EU in the future, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions under GDPR Article 45.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

To exercise these rights, contact the website owner (Customer) where you submitted feedback. They are the data controller and can fulfill your request through the SeggWat platform.

Filing a Complaint

If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (DPA), such as:

Our Role Under CCPA

We are a service provider processing data on behalf of the Customer (the business). The Customer is responsible for responding to your CCPA requests. Contact the website owner where you submitted feedback to exercise these rights.

Children's Privacy

SeggWat's service is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted feedback through our widget, please contact the website owner (Customer) or us at info@seggwat.com to request deletion.

Changes to This Notice

We may update this End User Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.

How We Notify You:

Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date"
We may also notify Customers, who can inform their users
Continued use of SeggWat widgets after changes constitutes acceptance

We encourage you to review this notice periodically.
